About
Textbook Transformation Grants Round One: Grantees and Documents
An RFP for Round One of ALG Textbook Transformation Grants was released on August 7, 2014. This first call offered thirty grant awards to be made to support adoption and use of no-or low-cost learning materials in USG courses in Spring semester 2015 in amounts of $10,800 each, in three categories: No-Cost-to-Students Learning Materials, OpenStax Textbooks, and Course Pack Pilots. A maximum of three per campus were to be awarded in this round. All USG institutions, libraries, and faculty were eligible and encouraged to submit proposals. Online information forums were held on August 14 and 15, 2014. The deadline for submission was September 8, 2014.
The Georgia Institute of Technology’s Center for 21st Century Universities (C21U) managed the review process independently on behalf of ALG, working with a team of reviewers who evaluated the projects in a blind process, using a rubric that was provided to the proposers in advance of submission. Proposing teams were notified on September 28, 2014 of the review committee’s decision.
Forty-eight proposals were received from 19 USG institutions. Of these, 30 proposals from 19 USG institutions were awarded grants, six of the proposals were voluntarily withdrawn to be resubmitted to the planned RFP for Transformations-at_Scale, and 12 of the proposals were returned with a request to revise and resubmit.
More details are available in the Fall 2014 Textbook Transformation Grants Spreadsheet.
